• Casual + Off Duty,  Work It

how to work: denim shirt + leather-pants

how to work: denim shirt + leather pants like an ‘It’ girl  The leather pant is hot for the fall season. although seriously it’s pretty cold to be rocking leather at the moment, I do love this look. Cool way to dress down leather and maybe even ‘work’ it on a casual friday and drinks with the girls afterwards. me

  • The Essentials

the essentials: F is for Falling into coloured fall jacket

i’m adding a fall jacket to the list of essentials because if you live in Canada you know how confusing and indecisive the weather can be, you can get summer, fall and winter-like temps all in one week. my solution for dealing with our unpredictable weather is to to have a few jackets in my work wardrobe. in addition to the basic black, the camel and leather jacket, i have a lightweight coloured jacket. how i work the fall jacket: this blue from Zara has come in handy for travelling for work and because of the length it’s a great alternative to a trench. I will work it with all…

the Essentials: H is for ‘hoop’sters

Nina G. says that hoop earrings are an “old standby”. i call them my everyday ear-wear. She also says to reserve the “big chunky door knockers” for your gig as a backup dancer. lol i need to remember that. how i work it: i do a pair in gold and another in silver, mid-size (i’ve got really small ears) plus a mid-size pair are work appropriate where the larger hoops i would save for my street style. (the bowl is from anthroplogie) me

the Essentials: F is for “Flats” in the nude

Nina G. says ballet flats are timeless, chic and more importantly, for us practical 9to5ers, comfortable. win-win! how i work it: those flats are like Lays Potato Chips – i can’t just have one! i opted for 9west flats with a bit of a pointy toe in black, nude, and brown. these nude pair have walked me to work many a spring/summer day. because they are nude, they work with just about everything. i sometimes skip the heels and keep these on all day and into the weekend.  high-five for comfort! me how many pairs do you own?

  • In My Closet,  The Essentials

the Essentials: F is for Fly Fall Boots

in the “One Hundred”, Nina G. lists fishnets, frye harness boots and a fur stole (geez, really? who wears those?!) among the “F”s that every stylish woman must own. i’ve opted for a pair of heeled pointy-toed boots as a staple for the working girl.  how i work it: mostly with pants but i may pair it with a leather pencil skirt. off duty? rock these with a pair of boyfriend jeans, a button down and a bad-ass leather jacket (jacket will be in an upcoming post).  me

the Essentials: say hola! to the leather espadrilles

Nina G. describes these as the “ultimate summer shoe”. maybe. i personally love these because i can wear them all day without getting my heel caught in a sidewalk crack. how i work it: these rudsak espadrilles are patiently waiting for next summer when they can work it out with my flirty skirts, summer dresses, white wide-legged trousers, skinny jeans and cropped pants. basically, i plan to wear these a lot! me how do you feel about the espadrille, too casual for the cube or just your style?

  • In My Closet,  The Essentials

The Essentials: why ride a horse when u can rock a camel..coat

the essentials – C is for Camel Coat Nina G. says that the (classic) camel coat can look elegant and expensive if you get the colour right. i don’t know about all that but i happen to love my inexpensive Zara one all the same.  bring on the colder weather. i’m getting ready the work the heck out of this  for fall and for many falls to come! me how to do you work your camel coat?

    The Essentials: The Booties

The Essentials: B is for (ankle) booties Nina G. says, if worn properly booties can elongate the legs. Now, who wouldn’t want that?!  how i work it: these are my new black suede Ateliers booties which i plan to wear with opaque tights and dresses and skirts and on casual fridays with some skinnys this fall. me how do you work your ankle boots?
