Out of Office: Doors Open Toronto

Out of Office: Doors Open Toronto 2013

i’m sharing some (not so great) pix of some of the Doors Open venues I attended this year.

in short, DoT is one weekend each year where the public can gain access to some of the great buildings and facilities in the city.

our afternoon began with a behind-the-scenes walk through TTC Bay subway station’s secret lower level

from there we went to the King Edward Hotel and took in the view from the  Crystal Ballroom.

from there it was a short walk to the Cathedral Church of St. James for some bell ringing – they seriously have bell ringing lessons! ok, so i personally opted out of ringing – there seems to be some type of math or formulas involved (this business of bell ringing isn’t as easy as it looks. trust me).

Anyhow, we did manage to also check out the stained glass windows in the high alter, the massive organ (you couldn’t miss it), a serious looking eagle lectern.

The final two images are of my favourite venue of the weekend – Commerce Court North – the ceilings were truly spectacular.

Once again, there were so many amazing places to visit but so little time!
